🧾 Medicare Supplement Plan Comparison (Medigap)

Medicare Supplement plans, also known as Medigap, help cover the “gaps” in Original Medicare—such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. These plans are offered by private insurance companies but are standardized by the federal government, meaning the coverage for each lettered plan (A, G, N, etc.) is the same no matter which carrier you choose.

How Medigap Works:

  • You must have Original Medicare Part A and Part B.

  • Medigap plans work nationwide with any provider that accepts Medicare.

  • Prescription drug coverage is not included—you’ll need a separate Part D plan.

  • Plans are labeled A through N, with Plan G and Plan N being the most popular today.

Which Supplement Plan is Best?

  • Plan G: Offers the most comprehensive coverage for new enrollees, only excluding the Part B deductible.

  • Plan N: Lower monthly premiums than Plan G, but includes small copays for office visits and ER, and doesn’t cover Part B excess charges.

  • Plan A: The most basic Medigap plan, with limited coverage and fewer benefits.
